It is well and truly the festive season and we always love to celebrate the joy of Christmas and all that God has done through sending Jesus as the ultimate gift.
We have a number of different services in the lead up to Christmas that you are more than welcome to invite family and friends along to. We would love to host you!
The Week Before Christmas
Twas the week before Christmas, when all that sufficed
Was to see people gathered to glorify Christ.
A place to belong - no despair or chagrin,
So all would feel certain there’s room at the inn.
The hustle and bustle of festive events,
Scrambling, clambering, sugar detriments.
Calendars, deadlines, to-do lists aplenty
A fridge full of colour, a bank account empty.
The pudding went wrong and the presents, unwrapped!
And the neighbours: ticked off that their driveway was trapped.
And the aunties and uncles were late for the meal,
And that heat was obnoxious, the prawns still to peel.
The children all giddy, the parents despairing,
A throng of events still yet to be sharing.
Temptation to lift up their arms in surrender,
If not for His majesty, glory and splendour.
What a curious thing, friend, family, stranger,
To rejoice in the notion: 'baby in a manger!'
But a baby then child, soon into a man,
Sent forth by a Father to see out a Plan.
A plan that dictated this baby would die,
Wipe every tear out of every eye.
Be battered and broken and hung on a tree,
Baby in a manger, mankind now set free.
The battle was fought and the battle was won,
And we became heirs, young daughters and sons.
Adopted by Grace, in worship we sing,
Besotted, enamoured by Jesus our King.
Be still in the silence, a moment to capture
The glorious truth, to revel with rapture,
The Word become flesh, one great intercession,
Forgiveness cascades in eternal procession.
