C3 Silverwater were honoured to open their new C3 Care Centre on Thursday 29th May 2014. CAP Centre representative Aruni Raj writes a recount of the exciting events that will bless and empower the communities in the local Auburn, Holroyd and Parramatta regions.
The C3 Care Centre is a free community initiative providing free food hampers, clothing, hot lunches, debt counselling and support to needy persons in the local Auburn, Holroyd and Parramatta regions. The recent renovation and expansion is a part of a $10,000 project to improve our services to the local community.
There was such a buzz of excitement and hope at the Care Centre as they opened their doors to the most needy and vulnerable in the local community. It was wonderful to see teams of volunteers and generous hearted people come together to serve and be a blessing.
Ross Buttenshaw (from CAP - Christians Against Poverty) shared about the free debt counselling services offered to help people get their lives back on track by becoming debt free.
Jake Betlem shared on the vision of "BEYOND"; of reaching out not just to worthy causes overseas but also right where the need is in our local struggling communities. Pastor Hartley & Natalie Taylor dedicated the new and renovated premises and prayed a blessing that many lives would be transformed and enriched through the new centre. Pastor Carly Lewis explained all our services including the new centre being a beacon of hope and friendship for those in our local community who were lonely, hurting, isolated and in need.
We gave tours of our free Food Bank (which hands out free food hampers every week to the needy) and the Clothing Bank (Free Clothing for men, women & children both brand new & well used donations). Then there was a free gourmet Hot Lunch provided to all and served with love by all our caring team of volunteers. The highlight of the day was the Free Shoe Giveaway! People flocked in from all over (including several Centrelink clients who were given free shoe vouchers recently). Over 100 Brand New Designer label sports shoes (courtesy of an anonymous donor) were given away free to needy clients & visitors!!! A wonderful treat indeed.
Today was a day of building relationships not just with the needy in our local community, but also partnering with other local agencies including Auburn Diversity Services, Settlement/Refugee Services, Barnados, NSW Department of Housing etc. The very heart & essence of building a strong & thriving community TOGETHER!
